The El Excéntrico Magazine Photography Exhibit will be on display at the
Milpitas Library Auditorium from September 19, 2016 until November 30, 2016. Additional evening programs will be held on Monday, October 17 and Monday, November 14, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Milpitas Library.
The Magazine was distributed in stores and businesses from Union City and Redwood City north of San José, to Watsonville and Salinas in the south El Excéntrico was a magazine about the San José region. Milpitas was part of the region.
The El Excéntrico Magazine Photography Exhibit consists of 20 framed picture collages from the magazine. El Excéntrico was published from 1949 until 1981 in San José on the 5th. and 20th.of each month for 32 years. The collection consists of more than 700 issues which amount to more than 24,000 pages and 60,000 photographs of the people and events in the Mexican community.
The goal of this project is to digitize the magazine collection and place it on the World Wide Web so it is available at no cost to ALL the public. We also hope to contact and interview long-time Mexican Families of the Milpitas area during this exhibition period
