Incumbent Daniel Bobay and first-time candidate Hon Lien were sworn in as school board members at the Board Meeting on Tuesday, December 13. An appointment rather than election took place for the positions because the trustees were the only candidates who ran and were therefore automatically appointed.
During the meeting, Hon Lien said: “It is with honor and humility that I accept my duties to serve on this board. As a parent of four children, who live here, attended school and graduated, I am deeply indebted to the teachers, the members of administration, and the school board for your leadership and your dedication to educate our children. Following in your footsteps, I will work with my fellow board members to provide all school administration and teachers with as much support as we can to make sure our teachers have the tools they need and environment they appreciate to deliver the best education to our children.”
Daniel Bobay said: “I would like to thank our community, of course, the people of Milpitas, for allowing me to serve them in this capacity one more term. Having run for this for third time in the second uncontested election for my position, I am very grateful to the people of Milpitas for recognizing that we do a pretty good job. It’s always a job that we can do better. … Also, for the students that are here in Milpitas. They are precious to us as our own children are. Here’s one right now, a product of Milpitas schools,” he said, pointing to his son in attendance at the meeting.
