Intern Insights w/ Summer Intern Allie, signing out for her 7th and last Blog Post: All Good Things Must Come to an End

Hello, my name is Allie, a soon-to-be junior at Milpitas High School and 2024 Summer Intern with Milpitas Unified School District through the City of Milpitas' Milpitas Youth Force. I started this blog, "Intern Insights," to share my experiences while offering a student perspective throughout my internship this Summer!

Howdy everyone! As of right now, I’m officially in my last week working as a summer intern at MUSD. This entire internship has been just a blast. Even though not every task I complete may be as exciting as the last, they all are a joy to do when surrounded by amazing mentors such as Scott Forstner, Van Le (thanks for the lunch-time conversations) and other staff members who are more than willing to go out of their way to help you achieve success. During my time here, I worked on a wide variety of projects such as photographing staff for the online directory; completing student help guides for students who struggle with audible directions; connecting with MUSD families for the Kohl’s Cares of Kids event; serving meals with the Student Nutrition Services team; photographing students at the Rose Child Development Center; and more.

My favorite projects definitely were the ones involving photography and, of course, creating this blog. I loved working on the staff directory photos especially, since it gave me an excuse to walk around the different offices and get to know a little bit about other MUSD employees. This project allowed me to improve my portrait photography and general editing skills, which I use daily in my own photography business called Allies Photo Studio. If you are in need of any type of photography for events, businesses, sports or whatever, I am available.

It has been a wonderful experience working as a summer intern with MUSD through the City’s Milpitas Youth Force, and I would definitely apply again! While this may be my last blog post, I can’t wait for everything that awaits me in the future. Goodbye everyone!
