Latest MUSD update to community
Dear MUSD Families & Team Members, Santa Clara County officials announced that access to COVID-19 vaccinations within Santa Clara County will expand to include workers in education and childcare, emergency services, and the food and agriculture industries beginning February 28, 2021. Teachers are part of the education and childcare priority for vaccines under Tier 1B of California’s vaccination plan. Expanding access to additional groups is the result of Santa Clara County reaching a key milestone. Now, more than half of our county residents aged 75 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and soon half of those 65 and older will have received at least one dose. As vaccine access expands to these additional groups, vaccination efforts will continue to focus on the most impacted areas of the community and older residents at greatest risk of serious illness and death from COVID-19. To support this expansion, the County Health System continues to boost its vaccine infrastructure, increasing capacity at both its large vaccination centers as well as smaller community-based and mobile sites. The Santa Clara County Health System is currently scheduling nearly 10,000 vaccination appointments each day. However, all of these efforts may continue to be limited by both vaccine supply and changing vaccine distribution plans from the State of California and the Federal Government. The County’s website at sccfreevax.org will include updates and information, including when those who are newly eligible may start to schedule vaccine appointments. Please be advised that even as more residents are vaccinated, Safety First practices continue to prevent the spread of COVID-19; wear masks, physically distance from others, and wash hands frequently. We will provide more details as they are available specifically for the education sector. Additionally, MUSD is advocating to become a vaccination site. In community, Office of the Superintendent Jan. 26 MUSD message: Stay at home order lifted Latest MUSD-City joint message Milpitas Unified School District and the City of Milpitas Take Significant Steps to Ensure Community Protection through Safety First Initiative Milpitas, CA – December 5, 2020 – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Health Officers of five Bay Area counties, including Santa Clara County, announced Friday the move to implement the State's New Regional Stay At Home Order, effective Sunday, December 6 through January 4, 2021.
