MILPITAS WILL OFFER TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN

Milpitas Unified School District has made the decision to offer a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program for students who will turn 5 years of age between November 2, 2012 and December 2, 2012. Please contact your resident school to register or to complete your registration if you have already begun the process.

The State of California has changed the enrollment date for students to enter kindergarten. This change will begin in the 2012-2013 school year. If a child is not 5 years old on or before November 1, 2012, they will not be eligible to attend a public school kindergarten. However, if they turn 5 years old between November 2, 2012 and December 2, 2012 they will be eligible for Transitional Kindergarten. Transitional Kindergarten is the first year of a 2-year program. In year one, the students attend a program that provides the basis for a successful transition into a traditional kindergarten program. The focus is on all four domains of early childhood development; social, emotional, physical, and cognitive.

For more information, you may contact your resident school.
